Annotating “The Chimes” by Charles Dickens

Dear all,

Our Workgroup for Annotating Dickens´ “The Chimes” will take place on Thursdays 14:15-15:45h.

Since our first regular meeting will be on Thursday, 9 January 2020, I would ask you to use the time until then to read through “The Chimes” (again) and keep an eye open to words, phrases or sentences, maybe even passages that you would want to clarify for yourself or others. As you may know, “The Chimes” is one of Charles Dickens´ Christmas stories, so I think it is a very nice read for the holidays.

There is already an extensive list in our Annotating The Chimes Dropbox with annotations that have been finished in the past semesters, some that have been worked on but not finished, and suggestions that are untouched. To make it easier for you, I would also ask you to send me an email (sandra-madeleine.wetzel@student.uni-tuebingen.de) to confirm your participation and indicate the email address that you want to use for the dropbox. Of course we will have a very informative meeting in which I will talk you through the whole process of writing an annotation in detail and show you the (infinite depth of our) contents in the dropbox.

Enjoy the read and I hope to see you in our workgroup soon.

Best,

Sandra Wetzel
