Mark Twain – The Prince and the Pauper

This historical novel, set in Tudor England, tells the story of two young boys, one a prince, the other a beggar. Intrigued by their uncanny resemblance, they decide to change roles. Written from a temporary and cultural distance, the novel contains various misconceptions about life in Tudor England that are difficult to identify without the necessary background knowledge. This group makes the novel accessible to modern readers by bridging the gap between past and present.
